Coral banded cleaner shrimp
At the Richelieu rock dive site, it’s common to see the coral banded cleaner shrimp ( Stenopus hispidus ). This shrimp can grow up to 6 centimeters and has a specific color pattern. The arms and legs are banded with red and white with a transparent body. It’s for scuba divers it’s a nice sight how this shrimp is sitting on the reefs waving with their white antennas. Advertising passing fish to stop and have a cleanup. The shrimp remove damaged tissue, parasites, and fungi. This shrimp is an important part of the ecosystem to keep the coral reefs and marine life healthy.
